There’s so much to explore in close proximity to Lonsdale Palms!

Start with a leisurely walk along the beach to the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse, one of three historic lighthouses on the Bellarine Peninsula. The Point Lonsdale Lighthouse is just a 5-kilometer walk from Lonsdale Palms, offering stunning coastal views along the way. Locals and visitors alike enjoy the Point Lonsdale Coastal Trail, whether on the beach or along scenic coastal pathways. The village of Point Lonsdale, with its views across The Rip to the Mornington Peninsula, is a perfect spot to watch the ships and coastal pilots navigate Port Phillip Bay.

The Bellarine Peninsula is a wine lover’s haven. In the 1880s, the Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula region was Victoria’s largest grape-growing area, and today, it’s home to over 40 cellar doors. The cool maritime climate and fertile soil, similar to France’s Bordeaux and Burgundy regions, have allowed winemakers to produce exceptional wines. Popular spots include Basils Farm, Jack Rabbit Vineyard, and Scotchmans Hill, all offering wine tastings with picturesque water views. Even if you’re not into wine, many of these wineries have delightful cafés and restaurants where you can savor a meal while enjoying the vineyard scenery.

For a touch of history and more lighthouse exploration, Queenscliffe is just a short drive away, where you can visit the Queenscliffe Black Lighthouse and the Queenscliffe White Lighthouse, both located at the tip of the peninsula. The area also boasts charming boutique shops and vintage stores, particularly along Hesse Street in Queenscliffe. You won’t find big-brand stores here; instead, discover unique finds at places like Frankie Say Relax, The Bookshop at Queenscliffe, and Vintage and Collectables On Hesse.

On weekends, local markets offer a treasure trove of produce and locally-made goods. The Point Lonsdale Market runs on the 2nd Sunday of each month, while the Queenscliffe Market takes place on the last Sunday of each month. Don’t miss the Queenscliffe Tourist Information Hub—it’s much more than just a place for information. Visit the Harbour and enjoy waterfront views from the observation tower, check out the shops, restaurants or treat yourself to an ice cream. Maybe buy some fresh locally caught seafood straight off the boat at Mi Shells Seafood at the Marina. While you’re there say hello to a pelican or watch a stingray or two coming for a feed off the boat .Just relax and recharge, breathing fresh sea air along the picturesque harbour location.

Whether you’re exploring lighthouses, sipping on local wines, or browsing boutique shops, the Bellarine Peninsula offers something special for every visitor.
